Duvet Decisions: What’s Your Ideal Tog?

Duvet togs measure how warm a duvet is. Think of it as the duvet’s ‘cosiness scale’ ranging from lightweight summer covers to thick winter warmers. Here’s how to pick the perfect tog for you…

1. Lightweights (4.5 Tog and Below)
Best for: Summer months, hot sleepers or those who feel like they’re in a sauna at night.
Pro Tip: Great for guest rooms—you can layer it with blankets!

2. The All-Rounder (7-10.5 Tog)
Best for: Spring and autumn, or if your bedroom temperature hovers around the Goldilocks zone – not too hot, not too cold.
Pro Tip: A 10.5 tog works all year for those who like moderate warmth.

3. Winter Warmers (12-15 Tog)
Best for: Chilly winter nights, cold sleepers or homes that are more ‘vintage charm’ than ‘central heating.’
Pro Tip: Pair with a hot water bottle for a toasty cocoon!

4. The Year-Round Hero (All-Season Duvet)
Best for: Those who want it all! Usually comes as two duvets (e.g., 4.5 tog + 9 tog) that can be clipped together for winter warmth or used separately for spring/summer.
Pro Tip: Ideal if you’re tired of swapping duvets each season.

Your duvet choice should pair well with:

Room temperature (18°C is the sweet spot for sleep).
Material preferences (down, feather, synthetic—choose what works for allergies and comfort).
Bed size (get the right size for your mattress to avoid drafts!).
